Foodie Penpals: March Edition

Woohoo – It’s Foodie Pen Pal reveal day: March edition!

I was excited to learn that my match, Renia, was in Tampa. I love getting matched with people in other parts of the country and getting a taste of their local favorites, but I was interested to see what another Floridian would put together for me. I can sum up my package from Renia in one word: HEAVEN.

Why? Because she sent me a box full of goodies from the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City! It was actually quite ironic, and it goes to show how small of a world we live in. My client, the Southern Ford Dealers, sponsor the Strawberry Festival every year. I had plans to go down during the festival to check it out and was very excited about it (because strawberries are my absolute favorite!), but my schedule got the best of me and I wasn’t able to make it. So Renia – THANK YOU for sending me a taste of what I missed :).

Renia said she goes to the festival with her mom and sister every year, so she picked up some of her favorites for me while she was there. My goodies included:

  • Joyva Sesame Bar and Luna Bar
  • Candied Ginger
  • A bag full of local fair candies
  • Strawberry cookies
  • Strawberry preserves
  • Georgia Peach Green Tea

So how was everything?
Joyva Sesame and Luna Bars – Renia mentioned that these are her favorite fuel to avoid eating too much fair food. Smart girl! I’d never had either of these before, or even heard of them. I didn’t think I was going to like the sesame bar because I don’t really care for sesame seeds, but it was surprisingly very good! I am saving the peppermint chocolate Luna bar for a special snack … my favorite flavor combo.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACandied Ginger – WOAH! Interesting, but so delicious. I have a recent fascination with ginger, so this was a great spin on it. It still had that spicy kick that ginger does, and the sweetness of the sugar complimented it nicely.

Candy – The bag of candies included strawberry Turkish taffy, coffee latte chewy candies, and fruit-flavored hard candies. The coffee ones are my favorite!

Strawberry cookies – These are the best cookies I’ve ever put in my mouth!!! Strawberry cookies made with fresh strawberries and covered in powdered sugar? I have GOT to find a similar recipe to duplicate. “Old Fashioned Goodness” … pretty much sums it up!

Strawberry preserves – I am such a sucker for homemade jams, jellies and preserves, so this hit the spot. I love being able to taste the fresh strawberries! And how adorable is that packaging?
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGeorgia Peach Green Tea – Renia saw on my blog that I am from Georgia, so she said she couldn’t leave out peach sweet tea. I recently got a tea ball so that I can enjoy fresh, gourmet teas, and this one might be one of my new favorites. Great choice!
Yet again, I am completely blown away by the creativity and thought that went into this FPP package. Thank you so much for being such a great pen pal, Renia! You knocked it out of the park.
