Yesterday, December 13th, Jimmy and I celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary. How it has already been two years is beyond be, but somehow it has. I guess it’s true what they say – time flies when you’re having fun!
This year, I wanted to do something very special for Jimmy, which I wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull off. But I DID! More on that to come …
Each year around Christmastime we go to Maggiano’s Little Italy for dinner (it’s always decorated so nice for the holidays and is right by the big Christmas tree at our outside mall), so we decided to go there for our anniversary date night. Y’all know how much Jimmy loves Christmas! I rushed home after work to quick pick up the living room mess, light a few candles, turn the tree lights on, and wrap Jimmy’s gift that had just come in before he got home. When he walked in the door, he was carrying a beautiful bouquet of red carnations, white Daisies and lots of greenery (which he had custom-made for me – a Christmas-looking bouquet and DAISIES!). He’s seriously the best.
The gift for your second wedding anniversary is cotton, so I gave him a white button down dress shirt (which he wore for our maternity photos over the weekend), and his gift to me was the sweetest. I’d ordered a heart-shaped recorder a few weeks earlier, which we took to our doctor’s appointment the day before and recorded our baby Daisy’s heartbeat on. Before dinner, we headed to the mall and picked out a stuffed animal at Build-a-Bear Workshop to create, and put the heartbeat inside of the stuffed animal before sewing it up. We picked out a monkey (Jimmy’s favorite animal), stuffed it with cotton (check!), made a wish on the heart, and sealed it up so we can give it to our baby girl. Now we all can always hear the sound of her heartbeat in my tummy. It was so much fun, and so special!
After a delicious dinner, we headed home and I surprised Jimmy with two more gifts. The first was a beautiful wedding photo album that I put together and had printed for him (well, for us, really). Somehow we have managed to make it this far without having our wedding photos printed in an album for us to look through! I had to change that. The second gift he unwrapped was the remote control to our TV with a note that said “turn me on.” He did, and was so excited to see what was on the screen: Our Wedding Video! We’ve had a little trouble getting our professional wedding video (long story) but thankfully I had all of the footage, so I put together a highlight video of the best day of our life. Neither of us had seen ANY of our wedding because we wanted to wait for the edited version, so I decided to put this together on my own and surprise Jimmy with it for our anniversary. Watching it makes me want to do it all over again! The laughs, the tears … it was worth the wait. I wanted to share it here for anyone who might enjoy watching it. I know it’s not the same as it is for us to anyone else, but it’s a little look into our big day celebrating our love for one another, and the joy that it brought us. I hope you enjoy it!
