For the month of November,  I have been listing one thing each day for which I am thankful. So far, they have all been listed under one post, but today’s topic requires much more than just a few sentences. On this ninth day of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for my brothers. (Okay fine, I am thankful for them every day … but you know what I mean.)
Ahhh, brothers. What girl wouldn’t want two older brothers? I mean, what would life had been like without them picking on me, tickling me until it hurt, throwing me over their shoulder and throwing me in the bushes, telling me I have a big butt, scaring all of my boyfriends away, hooking up with my babysitters, kicking my butt in laser tag, making up last-minute plans when asked to babysit me, stealing my crutches when I had a broken ankle, telling everyone about my “blond moments” even years after they’ve occurred …. yeah, I imagine it would have been pretty boring.

Kevin (or Bubba, as I have always called him) is the oldest of the two, and Derek is the youngest – both older than me by at least 10 years. Each of them have a wonderful family, Derek with two boys and a new fiancée, and Bubba with two girls and an amazing wife, Tricia.

They are always there for me when I need them, able to cheer me up with some corny joke, or are willing to punch someone in the face if I ever need it (not that I ever have, though.) And if one of us is ever lacking a smile … all it takes is “the Bubba look.”

The two of them are completely opposite from one another, yet have always been so close and such good friends, and I have always admired them for that. Bubba and I can stay up for hours drinking wine and cracking jokes. Derek and I used to enjoy watching and talking football together and cheering on the Bulldogs … that is, until he decided to jump ship and become a Gator fan (?????). I won’t get into that right now. (However, I have really enjoyed rubbing it in his face when GA beat “his team” the past two years … sorry Derek. I’m done now – promise.)

No matter what our differences or what kind of family drama we have going on, they’ve always been there for me and I know they always will be. I think it’s safe to say that I have the best big brothers in the world :). Love you guys!!
