It’s Foodie Pen Pal reveal day! I’m sure this will always be exciting, but it’s super exciting to me because it’s my first one. My friend Stacey has participated in the past, which is how I found out about the program, and I am happy to now be a part of it. Foodie Pen Pals was started by Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean last year, and has now grown into a hugely successful program with over 1,300 participants each month!
Foodie Pen Pals in a nutshell: Sign up to join, Lindsay matches you with a pen pal, you send them goodies, someone else sends you goodies, you enjoy the treats, blog about it if you’d like, and there you have it.
My first Foodie Pen Pal was Kate from New Jersey, and she did an awesome job introducing me to the program. I didn’t have any special requests and I’m not allergic to anything, but I did say that I enjoy trying new things. She definitely picked up on that because I hadn’t tried (or even heard of) any of the items she sent me.
The second my I opened the box, my boyfriend snatched the chocolate right out. Fortunately I was able to sneak in a bite before he ate the entire candy bar!
I’m not at all a fan of licorice (sorry, Kate – I forgot to mention that part), but the Blueberry Pomegranate Licorice was AMAZING! Seriously. I will be purchasing it again. It’s been the perfect snack to keep at my desk for those times when my sweet tooth strikes.
She also included a package of Bombay Spice Crunch Chickpeas. I thought it was an interesting choice, but once I tried them I understand why she included them. YUM! I’d never had chickpeas before this … weird?
Okay … just take a minute to think about this: Watermelon and Orange jelly? It’s okay, you can be jealous that I have this in my pantry right now. Can’t wait to try it!
My favorite item in the box was the Papaya Chunks. I say “was” because they didn’t last long. I love a good, healthy snack. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture, and now it’s too late because they are no longer in existence in my kitchen! (But you can see them in the “group shot” above.)
And the final item in my package … Dark Cacao Macaroons. I never knew raw, vegan and gluten-free could be so fun!
Oh, but I can’t forget the super cute card she included (with great handwriting.) Love the NJ-branded stationary!
Thank you Kate for making my first Foodie Pen Pal experience awesome, and for sending all of the delicious goodies!
Sure, receiving is always fun, but I also had a great time putting together my first Foodie Pen Pal package and sending it off to Kristin in Orlando. Talk about a challenge – she’s only two hours from me and in the same state. It’s not like I could send her FL orange juice or Peterbrooke popcorn! If you’d like to see what all I did come up with, head on over to Kristin’s blog, Diva Dog Bakery, to see her post.
Sounds fun, right? Visit The Lean Green Bean for details on how to get involved and start sending and receive goodies!
