giveaway

Hi, my name is Blakeley and I have a confession: I am addicted to nail polish. Like, seriously. I have two shoe boxes and a drawer FULL of polish. Maybe I should go on that TV show ‘Hoarders’? Because, yes, I hoard nail polish. I have never once finished a bottle and I never get rid of it, yet I can’t stop buying more. I probably have the exact same color in three different brands. But I paint my nails 2-3 days a week, so that makes it okay, right? The moment it starts to chip – BAM! Time for a new color. I even kind of struggle with gel manis because it lasts too long and I get bored with the color. See, told you have a problem.

BUT … in the words of Juan Pablo, “ees okay!” Because this time it paid off. A few weeks ago, I came across some pretty fabulous Maybelline nail polish colors and gave myself a fun manicure, which I posted on Instagram.

About a week after, I discovered Maybelline’s limited release Bleached Neon polishes that were available during the month of May only. Of course, I had to have them, and shared my mani using two of the colors.

Not long after, I received a direct message on Instagram from Maybelline saying that I was a winner in their #ColorShowoff IG Contest and had won their entire Color Show nail polish collection. SCORE!!!! I assumed I’d won maybe ten bottles of polish.

WRONG!

I got a knock at my door last week, signed for a package, opened it up, and THIS is what I found inside:

Holy nail polish!! You know that sound that plays in cartoons when something magnificent happens, kind of like the heavens opening up? I’m pretty sure that played when I opened this box. The contents of that box translated into 48 bottles of nail polish.

FORTY-EIGHT!!!

It was like color overload. I couldn’t get the bottles out of the box fast enough, and then I couldn’t decide which color to try first! I decided to go with this amazing pastel pink. I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect pale pink, and have finally found it in Maybelline’s Pink Embrace. Or should I say, it found me.

polish 1

  1. True Story: I used to be a HUGE nail biter, up until my senior year of college (seriously, huge, I used to bite the plastic nails off my baby dolls when I was a child, that’s how bad it was) but realized that I needed to kick the habit because I didn’t want to have nasty looking hands when I went on interviews.

I was finally able to kick the habit by getting my nails done on a regular basis, including fake nails (and found my all-time favorite color during this time period – OPI’s Hawaiian Orchid – which I am sporting now).

Now, everyone comments on how crazy long my nails get, and my mom is in utter disbelief that these are the same fingernails of a girl with a former severe nail biting habit!

I am a huge fan of the warm colors you posted – over jeweled, gilded rose, and pretty in peach. I’d love to win those!

    1. Wow, nice work!!! Very impressive. I’ve never been a biter, but I am a picker. The second my polish starts to chip, I pick the crap out of it. It’s pretty tacky…

  2. I try to branch out to different colors when I’m getting my nails done but it never fails that I find OPI’s Cajun Shrimp anywhere that it’s available! I really do try to stray from red corals but I can’t! I think I need the peach with glitter to help me πŸ˜‰

  3. I am also a nail polish addict! Here’s tip when removing glitter nail polish soak pieces of cotton balls in polish remover, place on nails and wrap with foil. Let it sit for a minute. Voila! Easy removal. You can never have enough of the same color in different brands. πŸ™‚

  4. I loveeee to paint my own nails – it’s the relaxing moment I have after mommy duty and Sydney is asleep! New favorite obsession: blue! Growing up momma would only let me buy pink or red so crazy colors are now my favorite!

  5. I don’t know what I would do with 48 bottles of nail polish. I recently counted mine and realized I had almost 30 bottles, most of them blues. I think blues are my absolute fave colors for nail polish and I really like the mini Bonita polishes I bought off eBay last year. They are very opaque and quick drying, even better than my Julep polishes.

  6. Hmm… me and nail polish… um, well, I’m a polish addict too, and have nearly 300 bottles at the moment (only a few are dupes). But I’m also a nail artist, and I’ve developed a bit of a problem… now I can’t stand to wear just a polish all on its own. I HAVE to have nail art in some form on my nails. This of course can be an issue because there are times I don’t feel up to doing nail art. So sometimes I’ll give in and just put on a single polish, but it never lasts more than two days. (Truthfully, though, even most of my nail art doesn’t last longer than two days before I get bored and decide to change it!)

  7. Fun fact about me- I actually came across your blog on instagram..I saw the #colorshowoff hashtag in a magazine and decided to go look at all the colors people were posting. And I cam across your page and saw you were having a giveaway, and thought, hey why not give it a try! πŸ™‚
I am also a nail polis freak!! I have so much that I never finish. And multiple of the same one because I live it so much. I’m ALWAYS! Painting my nails. Half the time I have my color all picked out and I’m so excited to paint them, then when I finish I don’t like how it came out, or the color and have to take it all off and start over again lol! I’ve been searching for the perfect mint color and I can never find it:/ But I’m pretty excited because I saw they have it, so now I absolutley NEED to go and get it haha.

    1. I am SO glad you found my blog on Instagram!! Wanna hear something awesome? You’re one of my winners!!! Please email me your address so I can get it on the way to you πŸ™‚ busybmail @ gmail. com

  8. Lucky! I am a nail polish fiend and am very jealous of your haul! You should google “jelly sandwich mani”. It’s a new-to-me kind of manicure that I am super excited to try. You do an opaque color on the bottom, then a glitter over that, and then a sheer color on top so the glitter and color is just subtly popping through! That’s what I am going to try next. After I am ready to give up my 4th of July nails that took me a few hours to paint, LOL! πŸ™‚

  9. Winning giveaways is so exciting and I’m so happy for you! That was a fantastic prize: 48 polishes!! I get very excited when I win just one or 2, but 48?!! I probably would have passed out from hyperventilating from the sheer excitement of it all!! A fun fact about me & polish: I have always loved polishing my nails and I’ve always had at least 5-10 polishes, always. But since I got sick 2 1/2 years ago (kidney failure) and having to spend time in the hospital & at home recovering, I have discovered nail art, nail blogs, Facebook, Instagram & Twitter. I now have around 250-300 bottles of polish, ranging from bargain drug store to indies & almost everything in between. I love stamping, dotting, glitter, texture & holos & multichrome polishes!! Thank you for sharing your windfall with us & giving us all a chance to win a few of those wonderful polishes!!

  10. I am a total nail polish addict and I love to experiment with different color combinations and techniques. I currently have a fun summer pink shade and a rich red color on my nails with 4 fingers on 1 hand with red and 1 nail with pink and then the opposite on my other hand with 4 fingers with the pink and then 1 with red. I thought I’d have fun and try it out and it turned out great. Thanks so much for being so generous with your amazing win!

    1. Thanks for entering … you’re one of the winners!!!!! I am so happy to hear that I’m not alone in this nail polish addiction thing πŸ™‚ I will email you to get your address. Thanks again for stopping by!

  11. I have over 200 nail polishes. I just love polish. Anytime I go in Walmart/Kmart/Target/CVS/Walgreens/Ross/TJMaxx/Nordstrom Rack or other stores with polish in them, I always have to take a peek.

  12. I have over 400 polishes, all hanging on a rack I made above my computer. I CANNOT go into a store without leaving with a new bottle of polish. It’s quite an obsession, but I guess it could be worse πŸ™‚

  13. This is an awesome giveaway. The three mystery colors are so beautiful. I love mixing and matching colors and draw nail art using a toothpick as I don;t have a brush yet πŸ™‚
I hope this is an international giveaway

    1. Rajkashmi – instead of using a toothpick, to give yourself greater control, i have seen many people take a pencil and stick a sewing pin in the eraser – the head of the pin used to make the designs/nail art!

  14. I love any color of nail polish.. I’m a pretty bad polish addict. Mostly though I try to limit myself to the cheaper brands, so that’s good right? ;P (I don’t own any nice brands basically (although I wish I had the money to!))

  15. I honestly love nail polish, but I love reading your blog, and am super proud of you! I think I need a great color to wear at your wedding! Also, my sister’s are addicted to nail polish, so I’d probably share with them too!!
