Words cannot even begin to describe how excited I am. Every woman’s favorite movie, favorite cast, favorite soundtrack, favorite storyline, and favorite dance is making its way to Jacksonville for a LIVE performance! I am, of course, talking about Dirty Dancing. And I, ladies (and gentlemen), have two tickets to opening night to give away to one of my fabulous readers. Happy Monday.
If you’re one of the sinful few who have not seen this most amazing classic flick (Yes, these people do exist, and my friend Ashley is unfortunate proof. After you enter this contest, head over to her blog and give her hell.), here’s a quick synopsis for you:
Dirty Dancing is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, passionate romance, and sensational dancing. Seen by millions across the globe, this timeless love story features the hit songs “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and the heart-stopping “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.”
It’s the summer of 1963, and 17-year-old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is on vacation in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents. Mesmerized by the racy dance moves and pounding rhythms she discovers in the resort’s staff quarters, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle, the resort’s sexy dance instructor. Passions ignite and Baby’s life changes forever when she is thrown in to the deep end as Johnny’s leading lady, both on-stage and off.

I am still so devastated from the loss of Patrick Swayze, so this will be the perfect way to remember him and pretend he is still with us. I mean, how much do these characters look like those from the movie?! It’s uncanny.

P.s. In all honesty, I asked my FSCJ Artsit Series contact if she could arrange for the cast to teach Jimmy and I THE dance for our first dance at our wedding. (She laughed.) But hey, if anyone knows it and is willing to teach it, I am willing to learn!
