Put on those jingle bells and head downtown – “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!” The Musical in town! (Hey, I’m a poet and didn’t even know it! Just call me Mrs. Dr. Seuss.)
As a part of the Artist Series influencer program, I had the privilege of seeing the show on opening night. Christmas. MADE! “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” has always been one of my favorite Christmas stories, and to say I was excited to hear that the musical was an understatement. I used to make my parents read the book to me at least a hundred times each year, I stood three feet away from our TV when the cartoon came on, and I know every line and song to the Jim Carey movie version. Heck, The Grinch himself even made a surprise appearance when we were taking our wedding photos!
I can never get enough of The Grinch, and the musical was no different.
The musical is similar to the original story, but puts its own spin on it. With new songs and an old Max (the dog) as the narrator), the show brings just enough newness to the otherwise familiar music and heart-felt plot of The Grinch’s heart growing three sizes on Christmas.
The cast was amazing, The Grinch was flawless, and the little girl who played Cindy-Lou Who blew my mind. And, like always, I had to fight back happy tears as The Grinch passed out his stolen gifts and hugged little Cindy-Lou next to the Who-tree. I don’t know what it is about this story but it does it to me EVERY time!
Getting into the holiday spirit can be a little tough down here in warm, sunny Florida, so if you’re looking for a way to bring on the Christmas cheer, definitely go see this show. It’s perfect for a family night out, a date night, or to see with a friend. I took my friend and both of our husbands and we all loved it so much. I suggest making a night out of it an enjoying dinner or a glass of wine at The Jacksonville Landing, and snagging a photo in front of the beautiful 56-foot Christmas tree before or after one of the synchronized light shows.
You can still catch the show a few times now through Sunday, so head over and grab your tickets now! I promise you won’t regret it.
