Happy Monday and happy first day of Summer, friends! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. I sure did. It was one of the first weekends in a while where Jimmy and I didn’t have any plans, we were both in town, we weren’t hosting an event or have people in town … it was truly an entire weekend of just the two of us getting to do anything that we wanted to do. Or absolutely nothing, for that matter, which we did for several hours – and it was glorious. (Which if you know anything about me, you know how rare that is!)
Friday night we strutted around in sweats, I made a grilled chicken Greek salad for dinner, then we plopped on the couch and watched 10 Cloverfield Lane while munching on popcorn and M&Ms. The movie, I wasn’t too crazy about, but the company, the snacks and the relaxation is welcome any time.
We kicked off Saturday morning with the most beautiful pancakes I’ve ever seen – Funfetti Pancakes! Pretty much your regular homemade buttermilk pancakes, but loaded with colorful sprinkles and topped with a light glaze. Holy moly were they good! (I made the mistake of telling Jimmy I’d make blueberry pancakes every Saturday morning in my wedding vows … oops. He still prefers blueberry to these pancakes, but he enjoyed these as well. Any pancakes are better than none in his book!)
After cleaning the house and taking a little nap, we headed out for an evening of arena football as the Jacksonville Sharks took on the Orlando Predators. I’ve talked about these games on my blog before, but it’s been about a month since we attended one. They are seriously so much fun! The fans are so hardcore, the atmosphere is exciting, and the team is really good. I also really appreciate during these hot summer months that the game is played indoors, especially on rainy days like Saturday.
We didn’t dress for the theme, which was Halloween in June, but a ton of other fans did and it was a lot of fun seeing them enjoy it. We did make it on the Jumbotron, though! My picture came out blurry, but there we are in the bottom left of the screen. #WereKindOfABigDeal
If you’re interested in checking out a Sharks game or are making pans for this weekend, they’re playing at home again this Saturday against the Cleveland Gladiators at 7 p.m. Tickets are super affordable – check it out!
Sunday morning we made breakfast, finished cleaning the house, then lounged around before heading over to our friends’ house for dinner (where I made another tasty salad!).
It was a pretty amazing low-key weekend, and I’m already looking forward to another one just like it. I hope yours was just as nice! Thanks for stopping by, have a fantastic week, and make the most out of the longest day of the year today! See you soon :).
XO,
Blakeley
