Notice anything different? My blog got a facelift! And a new name!
I have been blogging at Sweet Tea & Skyscrapers since I first moved to Jacksonville in 2009. When I created the blog, it was meant to be a “diary” of my journey moving from a small town in Georgia to the big city of Jacksonville, and then who knew where next. I wanted to share milestones in my life, things I loved about the city, how my life was changing after the move, and updates as I transitioned from college life to professional, “grown-up” life. After a while, I noticed that my posts started migrating from those things to more about things that I really enjoyed … beauty, makeup, fashion, and events that I love to plan. So, for the past year, I’ve been brainstorming options on what to do. Should I start a new blog from scratch? That’s a lot of work, and I’d hate to lose all of the posts I created and followers I’ve gained along the way. Should I just find a way to transition from one blog to another? If so, how the heck was I going to make that work? And what in the heck would I call it? And … is blogging even still relevant in today’s world of social media? Of course it its. And honestly, I don’t care. This is a passion project of mine, and I’ll do it until I the day I don’t have the desire, if ever that day may come.
I can’t tell you how many names I came up with, how many URLs I purchased, and how many times I started a brand new blog from scratch. After new blog after blog, I decided I didn’t want to start from scratch. I love what I built on ST&S, and I wanted to keep it. Just with a new name, new look, and new direction. So, after lists and headaches and brainstorm sessions with my hubby and friends, I finally came up with the name:
This Blonde Life.
This Blonde Life is about me, a blonde for 29 years (except that one summer I thought it was a good idea to be a brunette – and it was horrible on me) who is proud of her hair color and everything that comes along with it. To make it even better, I just so happened to marry a blonde man (which I never thought I’d do!), and I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that our future children will end up with a head of blonde hair, too! To me, the title is perfect for talking all things girly and beauty, along with all the fun that happens with my blonde family.
