Selecting my baby girl’s OOTD is one of my favorite things, let’s be honest. One of the many perks of having a baby is getting to dress her up in all the sweet clothes! Cuteness aside, it’s super important to me that she is comfortable and her clothes don’t irritate her skin, especially now that she is becoming more active, which is why I am SO happy to have discovered Finn + Emma®! Finn + Emma’s garments are made with buttery soft, G.O.T.S. certified organic cotton and non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes, and the garment snaps are lead/nickel-free and feature real coconut inserts. In addition, their items are made in fair trade settings that focus on social and economic independence for local women. Organic, eco-safe AND helping a sista out? Count me in!
So far we have these two outfits for Daisy, but we will definitely be purchasing more. These zebra footed PJs and this flamingo rattle are calling my (err, Daisy’s) name! In fact, the entire Miami Zoo collection is! I love how soft everything is, and the quality is amazing. This purple romper is just so sweet and perfect for these warm Florida days. I’m patiently waiting for her to fit into the kimono that came in this Box Set – I know it’s going to be precious on her! (The Box Sets make for awesome gifts, BTW!)
Their hand-knit toys are unique and so cute, and are made by an artisanal women’s collective in Peru with G.O.T.S certified organic cotton yarn and wool stuffing. Knowing that the rattle is free from harsh dyes and chemicals makes me feel better about her putting it in her mouth. Plus, how adorable is it? (We call it her “Superstar” because this particular one reminds me of a friend of mine from back home who has long dark hair and used to wear glasses, and always quoted the movie ‘Superstar’. Hi, Melissa! She smiles every time we put it in front for her!).
These clothes do run a little on the bigger size, so keep that in mind when ordering. However, it’s kind of nice because it gives baby time to grow into it fully and wear it even longer, and they can comfortably accommodate diapers. (For reference, Daisy is wearing a 0-3 month size and is 13 weeks old, and it’s just now fitting her perfectly. She’s on the smaller side, though.
Finn + Emma also offers wood toys, wooden teethers, muslin blankets in bright beautiful colors, wooden play gyms and corresponding play mats – all of which is organic and eco-safe. I hope you’ll check them out, and feel one of their soft outfits for yourself!
Curious … What are you thoughts on organic materials for your baby? Is it important to you?
