Let’s talk about sleep (for mama and for baby). Baby gets a good night’s sleep = mama gets a good night’s sleep. Everyone is happy, right? We struggled with Daisy sleeping for several weeks, but I am beyond happy to report that she is now sleeping through the NIGHT!! As in she goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 pm., wakes up to eat between 10 p.m. and midnight, goes back to sleep right after, and typically sleeps until 7:30 a.m!!!! It’s incredible. Every now and then she wakes up around 3 or 4 a.m. for a quick snack, but is back asleep within 15 to 20 minutes. YES! Way to go, my rockstar baby. ::Knocking on wood so I don’t jinx myself::
It wasn’t always like that, though. The first several weeks she had her days and nights confused, like most newborns. Then she decided she didn’t want to stay asleep. At all. No matter what we had her sleeping in. We tried the bassinet, the Pack N Play, the crib – no luck. Several people suggested the Rock N Play, which we purchased immediately and she slept like a champ. Then, at her two-month appointment, our pediatrician asked where she was sleeping. She wasn’t too impressed with our answer, and said she’d like us to try getting her to sleep on a firm, flat surface. Ugh. I wanted her to sleep, for all of our sanity, but then I did start getting a little worried. Would the cradle-shape she was sleeping in be bad for her hips eventually? How would the transition from RNP to crib go? Could she suffocate on the cloth part of the head portion, or am I just being paranoid? I decided I’d rather be safe than sorry.
Enter the DockATot.
Let me be up front: I was gifted this magical bed from DockATot, but I will totally be purchasing the Grand when Daisy grows out of this one, and would 100% recommend one to anyone who asks. It is seriously amazing. I’ve read a few reviews of some people saying they could take it or leave it, but for the most part people seem to swear by it, I honestly can’t imagine a night without it anymore. From the first night we put Baby D to sleep in it, she fell asleep immediately, slept through the night, and has ever since. We wrap her in an Ollie Swaddle (read here) and she’s good to go. I think she likes the way the bed sort of hugs her, making her feel secure and cozy.
The DockATot is a bed, co-sleeper and playtime lounger that comes in in two sizes: Deluxe (for 0-8 months) and Grand (for 9-36 months). We are still using the Deluxe, but I know she will need the Grand before we know it. So sad!! Fortunately the bottom unclips, making room for baby’s legs as they grow.
The material is all natural, made 100% from cotton, and is completely breathable, which is super important to me. Being a first-time mom I am constantly worried about my baby’s safety, especially when she’s sleeping (don’t even try me, SIDS), so I’m all about doing everything I can to keep her safe and comfy. It is also creates a perfect micro-climate for babies and tots, helping prevent them from getting too hot or too cold. It’s extra awesome because it’s designed in Sweden, and my hubby is Swedish. 🙂
I love that we can move it from room-to-room for naps or playtime, and can even do tummy time on it now. We also travel A LOT, so it’s super nice having such a lightweight, portable bed that we can take everywhere with us and her bed always feels the same to her. It will be going from Florida to Georgia, NY, Connecticut, South Dakota, Chicago, and Wisconsin over the next few months with us!
We don’t bed share, but this is the perfect sleeping options for those who do or are considering it. I do put her in the bed with me each morning while I drink my morning coffee and watch Good Morning America, and she loves lying next to me in her little bed.
Honestly, the only small drawback to me would be the price tag, which isn’t too cheap (but here’s $10 off for you!). However, if you’re looking for a bed option for your infant, and think of it as that (+ a portable one), this is a really great investment. And can you really put a price tag on sleep? I vote no. If you’re considering a DockATot for a bed option for your little one, I am happy to answer any questions or give any additional feedback! Just leave a comment below and I promise to respond. And if you’re a DockATot Grand user, let me know how your “bigger baby” likes it!

Hi, did you use the dockatot in a bassinet/crib for sleeping at night? I’m going to be a first time Mom in March and really love the concept of the dockatot. Thanks so much!
Hi Holly! Yes, we would put it in the bassinet next to our bed at first, and at times (especially when we traveled) would put it in the middle of the bed with us. Around six months we moved it to her crib in her room so she could get used to sleeping there, and once she could roll/climb out we took her out of it completely. It’s seriously one baby item I don’t know how we could have done without. Congratulations on your baby!!! Get ready for the best time of your life 🙂
