Wait a minute … Father’s Day is this weekend and I still haven’t posted about my first Mother’s Day? What is wrong with me?! Time is seriously going by way too fast. It always has, but now that I have a baby – whew! It’s like I blink and a month has gone by, and I know it’s only going to get worse.
This Mother’s Day was my first as a mom, and it was such an incredibly perfect, special weekend. Jimmy’s mom, dad and sister came to visit from Chicago, and my mom, step dad, sister, her boyfriend and two girls came for the weekend as well. I wanted to do something special for my first MD, and since it would be the first time since our wedding that we would have both of our families here together. After thinking of a few ideas, I settled on a family photo shoot. I thought it would be the perfect way to capture the special time, and have some professional family photos taken. Jimmy and I have tons of great photos together, but my sister has never had them with her girls, my mom, sister and I have never had them (since we’ve been adults, at least), my mom and step dad don’t’ have any together, and Jimmy said the same thing about his family. What a perfect occasion to change that!
I was introduced to Peacock Photography Jax a few months ago and thought this would be the perfect time to use them, and couldn’t be happier with that decision. The two photographers were so much fun and easy to work with, and I love how bright and colorful the pictures turned out. The Jax Beach backdrop wasn’t too bad, either 😊. If you’re ever looking for photography in Jacksonville, check them out (and let them know you found them here!). Not everyone was as excited as me about the idea of a photo session, but everyone ended up having a great time and STILL talk about how much fun it was! This was the perfect excuse to wear this gorgeous tropical maxi skirt from one of my favorite online boutiques, PinkBlush. (See this post and this post for more of my PinkBlush favorites.) Most of their styles, including this skirt, can be worn as maternity or non-maternity, and they also have nursing-friendly and plus-size clothing. Cute, on-trend, super affordable, and fast and free shipping – you seriously can’t beat it. I love this skirt it perfectly matched the colors of the sunset in these pictures!
After pictures on Saturday evening, we all sat around the fire pit at the hotel my in-laws were staying at on the beach, ordered pizza, enjoyed a few cocktails, and the kids played and swam in the pool. Sunday morning everyone came over to our house for bagels, donuts and mimosas, and all the moms opened gifts. Jimmy got me a heart with “Mom” engraved and a daisy Pandora charm for my bracelet – so sweet!! We all drove downtown and enjoyed a tasty brunch at Candy Apple Cafe, followed by sugar-loading at Sweet Pete’s Candy Shop. It was so nice being with the entire family and celebrating our incredible moms, and my baby Daisy for making me a mom, too! Looking forward to hopefully making Jimmy feel as special as I felt on my day for Father’s Day this Sunday 💖.
